My Reviews
The characters are very well developed. There is bound to be a character the reader can identify with.
I have read this book more than once. I love it every time. It is a real page turner. It is a must for people who love classics, beautifully written language, and page turners. It is one of my top ten!
I can see why many people would enjoy this book. It is very insightful. The author has some interesting ideas about relationships and forgiveness.
I chose this book because it was recommended by the school librarian. The novel's futuristic plot line is one of the forerunners in a now very popular dystopia genre for young readers. It has wonderful discussion points and thought provoking ideas that are great for classroom discussions.
This book has well developed characters that are interesting and multi-sided. It is a testament to the human need to find our place in this world and a lesson in recognizing how humans need one another one that journey of discovery.
Mysterious Xmen like characters in a unique and interesting location make for an exciting and fun read that keeps you turning the page. I have assigned this as an outside reading novel for 9th graders, and got a great response.
I was skeptical when beginning this book because of the purposely poor grammar. It made it difficult for me to read. However, the protagonist grows and changes quickly. The love story is soft and touching and the realistic struggles the narrator encounters are interesting. I truly enjoyed reading this novel.n
I would not say that I did not like this book. However, it was very dark and unsettling. The emotional struggle the woman goes through to survive is discussion worthy, and her ability to be the best parent she can under the circumstances is inspiring.
I love the decades the author takes to develop and grow the characters. The protagonist is unique in terms of her predicament. I felt like I could put a face with all the characters. There are many interesting points that occur in this novel that make it a good discussion book for clubs.
Although somewhat predicable, I did enjoy this book. I could imagine this as a 1940-1950's film on Turner Classic Movies. It's not life changing, but an entertaining escape with a happy ending. I did not recommend this for book clubs only because I didnt really see a lot of conflicting opinions that could develop from the plot.
This is not a book I would have chosen on my own. It was the draw of the month for my book club. I was surprised that I did actually enjoy the story. I found the ending a bit far fetched. There are lots of points to discuss for book clubs.
The novel is hilarious and insightful at the same time. This is a great book for people who camp and hike and love the outdoors. This makes for a fun filled laugh fest at book club.
This author has a true gift for descriptive writing. It is very well written. It is not a feel good book, but rather more reality based. This book is in the young adult section but is definately not just for young adults. It has very well developed characters, and has great discussion points.
The book was much better than the movie. I like the setting, and find the elderly protagonist funny and interesting. The story is full of illusions between reality and want we want people to see.
This book was pretty dark. However, the author got a good enough hook at the beginning of the story to keep you reading. She manages to keep you hanging until the very end when she finally reveals the mystery. There are some moral issues that could be discussed for clubs.
This book was horrible. I have read books I didn't like, but could at least respect the author's writing ability. This book was not only boring, it lacked character development, and read like it was from a middle school student's description and life experience. YUCK!
I LOVE Karen White. I love the way she always connects past and present together along with a page turning mystery to be solved. Her descriptive language is masterful and the character development she superb! READ IT!
Her stories are always such page turners with fun and interesting little twists. He is also great at character development. There are always some interesting take-aways from the story and though provoking quotes.
