My Reviews

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

Most members did not love the book, but the discussion was very interesting

This is a book that many have probably seen the movie of with Julie Harris. There is a newer movie also, that I hear is very bad, but the original movie was good, and followed the book closely. The book is not a page-turner. I was not particularly taken with it, but it does have some interesting characters, and the psychological elements made for very interesting discussion at our meeting. It was kind of fun for October to read a "haunting" book, but if you're looking for really scary, this is not the book. It is an easy read, and quite short.

Insightful, Interesting, Dramatic
Very well-written book that generated excellent discussion

This book was very well written and a total pleasure to read. Although I am not a person of faith, I had no trouble appreciating this story and the conflicts this family faced. The characters and relationships were beautifully developed and delightful. I wholeheartedly would recommend this book.
