My Reviews
Enzo is an old soul! His struggles and insights have deeply touched the incarcerated gang kids I mentor. They tell me Enzo understands how they feel and he inspires them to risk change. Beautiful messages for all of us. Our book club loved this book!
Those who Save Us made me grapple with what I would do to save those I love and also question how much of my present behavior is shaped by past "baggage." Excellent discussion book.
There are some heartwarming moments in this book, however, I could not engage with the characters and came away feeling like I hadn't learned anything new. I would have tossed the book half way through except that it is a book club selection and I felt obligated to finish it.
While The Forgotten Garden gets off to a slow start, it is a "must read!" Fairytales are masterfully intertwined with the dramatic lives of three generations of women trying to find themselves.
If getting to bed early is important to you, don't read this book!!! You will be up until the wee hours turning pages...and you will not stop with The Hunger Games, but will be driven to complete the entire trilogy.
This is a remarkable book, one to be savored for its heart, social commentary, history, humor and stellar character development. Count Rostov is a character to be held in the highest regard. I cannot do justice in reviewing A Gentleman in Moscow. It's that good. My book club loved it!
