My Reviews
We all enjoyed this book. It was fun reading from the perspective of a set of letters.
This book was light and fun, but didn't have the depth that we anticipated when we selected it for club reading. Left me a little disappointed.
Many of our members had read this before, but found it a much different story than they did previously. While no one could trust Holden, the narrator and main character, most felt that he was a likable person.
I did not enjoy this story as much as other Murakami titles. My book club has women with prefrences for all different styles of writing, but I think this selection was a little too vague. I was able to find some questions to ask, but no answers to give, and everyone Really Really wanted some answers!
Writing is beautifully done - props to the translator!
This is a book that reminds me of being back in school. The writing is clearly superior and it us evident why it has won awards, but it was a chore to finish. The main characters were hard to like and some of the chapters dragged on, very much like life itself can be/do. This may have been one of the best discussionsolution our book club has had and I am glad I had the chance to read this book.
