My Reviews
A pleasant story about small town characters that are believable
and intertwine as all small town residents do. The setting is in Wisconsin and the author gives background as to how the "driftless" area came to be known.
All members really liked this book and would recommend other clubs to try it. We found the story believable and the mix of facts and fiction made it even more so.
Our book club had much praise for this novel. We felt inspired by Little Bee's courage, maturity, and insights.
All members really liked the story. There were several characters to sort however. The further into the story, the more you couldn't put it down. Some members felt disappointed by the ending and hope the author will have a follow up novel to see what happens to the characters.
All members praised the book, however, some felt it was a slow start. The characters were believable and well-developed. Discussion was lively and varying opinions gave other members something ponder.
Totally engrossing, informative, and hard to put down. Our group was intrigued by the variety of characters and questions spun off to related topics. We could have gone on for another couple of hours.
We only know what is reported by media. The aftermath of Katrina had many pitfalls. The fact people were imprisoned based primarily on profiling was unknown by most. What other facts are withheld from the public? Why? Who decides?
This book brings forth facts and reality.
