My Reviews
It was a very quick read that kept you on the edge of your seat. It was scary to think that this is actually happening and how you have to think before you really let a child go on the internet unsupervised.
I found this book to be slow and boring. It was difficult to get use to a child telling about a horrible life. As I read, I got use to the boy's language. It was slow in the beginning and repetitive. I understand the author's purpose of getting you use to their day in and day out routine but it could have been less. The part that I found irritating, that caused me to dislike it in the end, was the use of the words "get some" to refer to the constant breast feeding throughout the book. I am not against it but I got the point after the first 10 references. It didn't need to consume the book and that's what I was left with when I think of the book. Also our club hated the ending. It just ended with no real closure. Big disappointment to me when it seemed a lot of people liked the book. Our book club would not recommend it.
I really enjoyed the book being told through a dog's perspective. It is a different take on a story about a dog. It is a beautiful story about a man and his dog's love for him. The side story was not expected and I didn't like that part. Otherwise, their friendship was beautifully told.
Interesting book. Although the story of Sarah was sad to read, the quest and adventure of the woman to find out was interesting.
This is probably one of my most favorite books that I have read this year. It was a brilliant and inspiring story about 3 women and their unique bond. I loved each of the three main characters and their own perspectives during a time of discrimination. Each one was beautifully told and I could wait to read more about them. One of the few books our club read that we all loved.
My favorite read of this year. It is a life changing story a girl's life and the hardships she had to overcome. These hardships made her an extremely strong and inspiring person. I have never connected with a character in a book the way I have with Rachel. The story was beautifully told and you felt like you were with her every step of her life. She inspired every character in the book and she inspired everyone in our book club. I have recommended this book to many people and every person came back to tell me it was one of the most beautiful books they have ever read. Beautifully written.
I liked the first book but I hate the author's excruciating details that make the story boing and have nothing to do with the book. He continued it in this book. The story itself was good but the author's writing is too much and left me not wanting to read the third one. While I recommend it because the story inside was good, I have to say overall I disliked it. So I am kind of torn with my review.
Terrible. I could care less about any of the characters. The story could have been done so much better. I wanted to feel something because I was extremely interested in the cover but it left be feeling what a waste of time. Disappointing. Our book club did not like this book at all.
While I loved the story and its extremely addictive, its written poorly. Its a great story but it is not written with the best English possible.
A quick read. Great story about a little girl learning to live with humans and a woman's quest to humanize her. Shocking end to the story.
It was a fun and quick read. Like some of the characters but disliked others. There is a twist and it made it more interesting. Our book club enjoyed it.
Whole book club loved this book. However the animal abuse at times was too much to read but plowed through knowing there had to be change. The story is well written and informative about the circuses in the 1920s. It was a book I couldn't put down. The end of the story was worth the read and I love karma!!! We would definitely recommend this book. Being an animal lover, I am happy I stuck it out.
Very interesting book. I couldn't put it down once I started it. It was fast paced and exciting. I am excited to see the movie and read the sequels. The book club found it great.
Our book club loved this book. We thought this was one of the best reads and a beautiful story. Although you can figure out what is going to happen, the story travels back and forth from past to present and describes a beautiful love story.
The book club hated this book. Most could not finish because it was so boring and difficult to get interested in enough to finish. Those that did finish said it was a waste of time. Spent a total of 5 minutes discussing what little there was to discuss.
This was an excellent sequel to the Hunger Games. The book club loved the book and can't wait to read the next one. It was a book we couldn't put down. Again the topic was bizarre but very addicting to read. Loved the character Peeta and Katniss.
The book started off a little slow and then picked up and I couldn't put the book down. The topic of an endured servant living with slaves was different than anything else I have read. Overall the book was depressing and I felt there could have been some good somewhere in the story. I kept waiting only to be disappointed. I felt the author fell flat at the end of the story. She wrote it fast paced but then finished the story in one paragraph. Our book club liked it but wished there was something more at the end. Some light to give the girl Lavinia. Aside from that, I did enjoy it as well as the club. We would recommend it and it did lead to many conversations about that time period and the characters.
Overall a suspenseful book. Quick read and some twists that you didn't see coming. Some people in our club said she repeated herself too much but she did loose her memory every day and had to start over. All but 1 liked the book so I would recommend it.
