What is happiness to you? When a want ad was placed that read - Wanted: Happiness. Please help me find what I've lost. Please send suggestions to PO Box...(Lasting happiness only, please. Nothing that fleets.) It starts a torrent of responses and reactions that cause an avalanche. Though the book is somewhat sappy, it will make you truly think about what happiness means. The book is both sad and heartwarming, no sex and a happy ending. Nice and quick read.
Heart rending. This book made me truly begin to understand the horrors that were suffered by those families affected by the German concentration camps. Absolutely horrified me that the French officials did the same to fellow French citizens with the round up in July, 1942. Great story that was written so that I did not want to put it down. Nicely done with Sarah's story intertwined with modern Julia's story. I really enjoyed this novel.
Started a bit slowly but rapidly drew me in to a place and era in which I had no previous exposure. It truly made me stop and think about my longest female friendships. The description of foot binding actually made me feet hurt. What a cruel way to place value on a woman. I really enjoyed the book and am planning on sending a copy to my longest term girlfriend.
What a lovely story. Brings and interesting view of "early" prejudice. Easy to read and heartwarming.
