My Reviews
I'm probably one of the few that didn't really enjoy this book. I thought the architectural history was boring and unnecesssary to tell the story of Dr. Holmes. This would have been better as two seperate books, not a combined book.
This book makes you think, not just about rape, but about your family, your kids, and more. During our book discussion, we debated who we faulted in Trixie's situation (her father, mother, Jason, or even Trixie herself). A lot of us were surpised at our own conclusions. Highly recommend for book club discussions! There is A LOT to talk about with this book.
There as no point to this book and no reason to talk about it with anyone. The plot read like a script for a Sunday night movie on NBC. Not even a good science fiction story. Best read on a vacation when all good books have been lost.
I really enjoyed this book, but no everyone in my club shared my perception. The account of a person's stay in a psych ward is very interesting and the author is a very good story teller. Who would have expected to laugh outloud while reading a serious book. However, I don't think there is a lot to talk about especially if some members just didn't like the story. The best discussion was whether Jim was really insane or not.
