My Reviews
Our bookclub started out going to see the author speak at a local college. I think that made the book so much more interesting and gave us insights into the book that we normally would not of had.I am not a science oriented person, but the author made the book understandable even to me! I think it's a topic we all should know more about and certainly something that we will see more about in the future.Very well written book. I look forward to seeing more from the author!!
I don't usually read non-fiction,so it was a surprise to me when I really started to find this book interesting. It was fairly well written and the true life story kept me wanting to find out the ending!I would highly recommend this for other book clubs because of the great discussions that can come from it!
I would say this is one of my all time favorite books!! The plot is addictive-watch out, you won't be able to put the book down once you start it!! I would suggest you have a pen and paper near by so that you can keep track of the characters!!I can't decide which character is my favorite.Love the book!!
I enjoyed the book for the most part but I had some trouble understanding some of the medical terms and some of the culture differences were strange and hard to relate to.Some of the ways that characters related to each other was not believable.
I think it's important for us in America to know what is going on in the rest of the world.I never knew too much about female circumcision, this book certainly explained it all. The details in the book are quite graphic, but since it is still going on in parts of the world we need to be aware of it. This may be a difficult book to discuss.
Our bookclub really enjoyed Sarah's Key. We had a lot of good discussion that came from the questions that were at the end of the book.
Our club really enjoyed this book and had a good discussion about it. We were able to see the author speak at a local college and I saw that the author is a genuine person and very believable! I would reccomend this book for other clubs. I didn't know a lot about leprosy until I read this book.
Our book club liked this book on the whole and we would reccommend it to others.
Our book club read it last month and no one would recommend it for anyone else to read!Too many characters, did not keep their attention and was just not worth the time it took to read!
This is the first time our group did essays and they really seemed to enjoy them. We each chose one of the essays that we enjoyed and that brought of great discussion.
We all really liked the book and it had a mystery you couldn't predict!
I think everyone enjoyed this book. We had great discussion questions(found on line) and one of our club members made a potato peel pie for our snack! She found the recipe on line!
Our group really enjoyed this book and had a great discussion with it!
The author is such a good writer that she made topic that I normally would not like-interesting!
This book kept my attention and some of the characters I really liked and others I did not. For some reason this book created a lot more discussion than other books!
This was a good book but at times I was tired of the history. We had very good discussion from this book.
I've read quite a few of her books and this was by far her best! Her characters were so real and when she described how cold it was-it made me cold too!
Harper Lee
We are reading this because the author is coming to a near by college campus and we're going to see him speak. This is a non-fiction book and is very informative. But the author could have done less details and still gotten his point across.
We really enjoyed the book . It was well written and you really got to know the characters and what their lives would have been like back then!!
An old fashioned story about 4 sisters and how they change as they grow up.
This book kept my attention and was well written. It was romantic with a sad ending. It gave our club a lot to discuss!
This book was light hearted and was an easy read but it just wasn't my favorite! Some of it was just not believable!
This book was written in 3 sections going back in history. The characters were extremely confusing because some of them overlapped!
This was a good book but not my favorite! Not to give away anything but... my favorite part was when she found the jewelry at just the right time to save her family!
This was a good book-it reminded me a lot of Jane Eyre. We had a fair amount of discussion with it!
Over all I enjoyed the book and we had good discussion about it!
This took place during the dust bowl and I really didn't know a lot about this time period so I learned a lot.I also liked the characters and wanted them to succeed!
I LOVED this book!! We are reading this this book this month and I can't wait to discuss it! So much we can talk about! How the little things in life can change other peoples lives and we never really know it!
This book was interesting and had some good twists at the end. but it was slow going in some places - but I wanted to know what happens at the end so I keept going!!
