My Reviews
Everything Nice was a great book club read-- light and entertaining, just what we were looking for for an end of summer book.
So much happens in this book, and there are so many stories told, that it makes for a very good group discussion.... The book itself was wonderfully written, I felt disappointed when it was done that I can't visit with Aibeleen and Minny and Skeeter more.. I'm going to miss them!
Our group enjoyed this book. It was scary, images that will stay with us for a bit. The characters are well developed, and the story is different, and fun even though it's very creepy.
My only complaint was the length. I wasn't able to fit it all in-- this is a great book though and well worth the read!
Our group loved Night Road-- it was so well written and just propelled you through it. Every one of us felt that we could relate to the book--- it wasn't overly sentimental (although you should be prepared with tissues) but Kristin did a wonderful job of making you feel as though the story could be anyone you know.
I have to admit that it made me think. Didn't love the characters, but it was interesting and made me want to see how it all turned out.
I really enjoyed this story. Our book group as a whole enjoyed it very much, in spite of the writing style and rather poor editing (we all found several obvious errors. ) Nice light, romance, with a little bit of a supposed mystery thrown in. Worth the read, and a nice vacation book.
I liked this book-- the writing was very good.. Not sure I understood the point of what was being told until we discussed the book at our meeting. Was enjoyed by most of the group.
Although the topic is difficult, this is a well written, believable story. Lisa Genova very successfully allows us to see Alzheimer's disease from the perspective of it's victim. Alice is a great character, very well thought out and easy to relate to. Our book club spent a lot of time discussing all aspects of this book-- we all enjoyed it, in spite of the tough story it had to tell.
