My Reviews
I read this book years ago and LOVED it. Caleb Carr is authentic to the time period and I love that (at least in the hard cover) there was a map on the inside cover so you could understand where they were going - and remembering that when he indicates that they take a "cab", it is a hansom cab, not a car!
LOVED it! It was interesting to read a book around the era of WWII and have the perspective come from the conflict between the Japanese and the Chinese, and how both were treated in the US. The characters are lovely - I simply loved this book.
This book was wonderful - it really takes a hold of you. There is so much to learn about the middle eastern culture, it was educational for me.
I found it interesting through Italy, but after that it just became redundant. I felt that she was whiny and self absorbed. I couldn't even finish it.
