My Reviews
I understand this illness (Alzheimer's dementia) from a professional point of view. This book gives you "the other view", the one from the patient suffering from it. The portray of the Alzheimer's patient is 100% true. It is brilliantly written. You need time to process what Alice is going through. Interesting family dynamics and how this illness can change them. It will give you a lot to talk about at the book club meeting. I'd recommend this book to everyone, but specially to those who would like to understand this illness from another perspective.
It is a good book, interesting if you are able to discuss the dynamics among the characters. Slow at times, very detailed (at times, boring) but overall I liked it and I am renting the movie (Hitchcock) as soon as I can.
Eventhough i was intrigued by the title, I don't think it was interesting or inspiring in any way.
Confusing at times, fairly/poorly written, not too much to look forward as the story repeats itself in circles... I wish it could have been different, the title was promising and inviting but the story came short of my expectations. Maybe next time,...
It is truly addictive, although at time, I needed to take a break to swalow in all the information and what was happening with her... Brilliantly written, Insightful and Life Changing fro sure!!! You can not miss this book, it is a jewel for a deep book club discussion
Loved the idea, thought it will make a good reading and we were looking forward for a great discussion about it but did not meet anyone's expectations, it was slow, boring, not insightful and unsophisticated...
We thought it could be a good book for discussion (given that we all come from different religions/belief systems and backgrounds) but most of us could not finish it (I could not pass the 1/3 of the book). It was painful, confusing, too many references of people who "said this and that".... We ended having a great conversation about the topic, but It was not because of the book.
One of the best books ever written!! It is addictive, adventurous, dramatic, romantic, informative, insightful, inspiring and beautifully written. If you are interested in Judaism/sionism and the story behind this religion, you have to read this book. The film (1960) is based on the events that happened on the ship Exodus in 1947 and dealing with the founding of the state of Israel in 1948. The main character in the movie is played by Paul Newman!!! The Book is a must-read!!!
I havent finished it yet but I am loving the characters, it is a fun, quick read, interesting from the beginning to the end (almost there).. Not a lot to discuss in a bookclub but still worth reading in between!! Have fun!
This book is inspiring in every way. Very fast read, entertaining and insightful at the same time. You can not put it down, you feel every word, every sentence and every feeling the author describes. Based on the Sheeran' s true story, this is an amazing and unforgettable journey that celebrates family and love, strength and faith and above all, with laughs and tears, life as it is. I am forever changed after reading what this family went through and thankful to them for sharing their story with the world.
