While interesting and providing a good discussion, most people had a hard time with this book. Several skipped the middle part as it got a little tedious and went to the latter part to see what happened to Valy, her grandfather's lover. We admired the author's tenacity in researching this book and her family's sad history. Recalling the plight of the Jews during Hilter's reign is always heart touching and inspiring when you hear stories of how individuals persevered. We were glad we read it but it was not an easy read.
