My Reviews
I would not have chosen this book for myself, I was horrified by the premise, but I read because our book club chose it. I couldn't put it down and had to rush out to get the next two books. My tweens read it and loved it as well.
I expected more of an insight into how his mind worked. There were a few chapters on that towards the end that were interesting. However most of the book skipped around quite a bit or concentrated on the stuff he did for KISS. The book needed an editor to organize it. Most of our book club either couldn't finish the book or did not enjoy it. One member loved it though, so who knows?
It is hard to get into this book, partially because the language style is so different. But once you get past the first few chapters, it is easy to read and very enjoyable.
This book points out my lack of historical knowledge, but I did learn a few things that I didn't know. You can read this book and really study it more in-depth or learn a few things and enjoy the individual stories. I enjoyed it.
While it did make an interesting book club discussion, much of it was about how tedious it was to read and how many unanswered questions there were. I think the topic was interesting and the book had the potential to be so much better.
The timing of her list was interesting. Makes you think about how your list would be different depending on your age and life stages and circumstances.
It had enough twists and turns to keep you interested even though some of the material was questionable.
Good to know the history of some of the places I have visited in Florida and also to have some more information about those places that don't exist anymore. Shows some of the true pioneer spirit that settled this country.
Look Again was a fast read. You did want to know what happened. Most of us agreed that we would not have gone down the same path as the character did, but it generated a lot of discussion about nature vs. nurture.
Although it was a fast read, I found it to be a bit of a downer. Hard to connect with the main character, all wrapped up a bit unconvincingly quickly at the end.
I liked the part I read and it could have been good, but it abruptly ended at what would be about 2/3 of the way through the book. I had borrowed my friend\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s e-reader and had thought there was a malfunction that all of a sudden I was in the notes after the book. If you are going to write a multi-part book, then you need to advertise it up front or wrap up the story and then hint at a new adventure that will be undertaken in the next book.
