My Reviews
At first is was a little slow & hard to read, but I was intrigued by enough of the story to keep reading. It got better and more interesting the more I read.
I learned a lot of interesting history while solving a mystery.
It was one of those books I couldn't put down. Loved the way Tatiana de Rosnay wrote about a sensitive subject.
I just loved the characters in the book like they were my friends. The bits of history intertwined throughout the book kept me interested. I wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next!
Very interesting book and easy to read! A bit sad at times but loved that the book was from the point of view of Alice.
This was a great book club discussion book. So many things to talk about! The book starts a little slow but you'll get to a point where you can't put it down! I want to read more books by Ann Patchett.
I actually read this book twice, something that I don't really do. I loved the way Chris Cleave wrote this story with all of its surprises. He made me love and connect with the characters.
Extremely interesting, well written and absolutely thought provoking. The story gave our club a lot to discuss.
This book was a real life medical mystery that made me want to keep reading to discover what happened to her. This book highlights how important it is to have a health advocate because when you are the patient you can't always speak for yourself.
Good mystery with interesting psychological aspects.
This book was slow to start & I couldn\\\'t see where the author was going with some of the chapters, but around 50 or so pages, I was hooked. Then, once you finish, you may want to go back and see what you missed in the beginning! Great ending.
It's was shocking to read this true story. So sad how big business and corrupt judges take advantage of a small businessman and his workers. But really uplifting to see how lawyers find a way to take this case to the supreme court. Interesting to learn about coal mines and the people living and working in that industry.
The story was unique in the characters, anthropologist and the people they studied as well as part of the world. My book club had a lively & sustained discussion about this book on several topics. It was a fun & interesting read and discuss.
