My Reviews
Well written modern-day fairytale. A great story of overcoming adversity.
Depressing story about a pregnant teenager who is ostrosized from her family, community and school. Very fragmented writing. I was shocked to read that the author is a university English teacher.
An interesting story with a dark and twisted plot, but I was interested in the story.
This was an interesting story of the Salem iinprisonment of those accused of witchcraft. The audio was better than the book.
Although the book started off slow and the characters seemed like cliches, the story developed and became captivating, revealing the travesties of WW II and the horrors of life in the Soviet Union at that time. Many surprises in the last 125 pages. I could not put it down.
Although this is a novel, much WW II history is contained in it. The story is intriguing. These events need to be written about and read by all.
Well written and informative. Discusses end of life decisions, medical treatment options for terminally ill patients and the medical industry.
Our book club had much to discuss and other members loved it. While everything in this book is necessary to know and plan for, I cried every time I read it.
I’ve read countless books on WWII and Nazi occupations in various European countries and this one gives a multi-faceted perspective, from Poland, USA charity workers, US Consulate and German doctors. Amazing first novel- well written and captivating with a great deal to discuss at book club.
While the topic is pertinent, this book was drawn out and could've been completed in about 50 pages.
Terrific novel depicting the before, during, and after effects of the Vietnam era on American young adults, especially the little known impact of being a military nurse in a war zone. The main character symbolizing a large majority of women's roles, familial and societal pressures of the period. Thought provoking and much to discuss at book club and beyond.
