My Reviews
Spot on writing style from the viewpoint of a five-year old who only knows the world he lives in with his Ma, Room. Excellent book for discussion.
I think there are better mysteries out there. Just didn't seem realistic enough, but it was not a bad read.
Very detailed and awe-inspiring account of Louie Zamperini's survival as a Japanese POW during WWII. Unbelievable conditions he lived through, yet and ever positive will to live.
I really enjoyed the magical, creativity of the book. However, the plot line moved too slow and didn't keep me wanting to turn pages.
Very detailed, old-school style of writing that is both informative and beautifully descriptive. Stay with it- it keeps getting better and better.
I thought the book was just OK. Horses seemed to have more dimension than the characters. Maybe would have been more interesting if it showed perspectives from the different characters viewpoints other than Thea's.
I appreciated learning the details of that era but the characters were flat and one dimensional. I was expecting more insight into Elizabeth Keckley. There just was no emotion and was was a very slow read.
