This is an inrerestin study of two culrures.

I always enjoy Ann Tyler's writing and this book was one of her best.

 
Dramatic, Interesting, Insightful
This was a thought-provoking book that was very well written.

I enjoyed reading this book. There were many topics that were available for discussion.

Interesting, Informative, Slow
The author writes well and presents the Civil War in a new light.

The characters were developed well and the story was, tho fiction, an insight into the Civil War from a very human perspective.
