My Reviews

Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson

Interesting, Gloomy, Dramatic
a beautiful story that haunts you long after it ends.

When the book was over I felt as if I had left an enchanted place and was very sad. I came to care for the people in the story so deeply that it made me feel I was not so much as reading their story but actually involved in their lives.

Brick Lane: A Novel by Monica Ali

Slow, Difficult
A good read about feminism amid a male dominated culture

The story centers around Nanzeen who comes to London from a village in Bangladesh in the 60's for an arranged marriage . The life she leads in the 20 years the book covers is most interesting. What starts out as accepting her fate evolves into a courageous choice for herself and her daughters.
