Dean writes a beautiful tribute to the strength of the human spirit. This book pairs well with "Sara's Key."
This is an interesting study of how if we don’t learn from history, we’re destined to repeat it. The story is told in journal form. Sometimes this was a little dull, especially in the last one-third, but the overall message and story was compelling. Beautiful landscape and Forest Gump like brushing with history, from Washington DC to Mexico to North Carolina, from association with Mexican Communists and Russian Revolutionaries to colorful artists Diego Rivera and Frida Khalo. Barbara Kingsolver can create a character like no one else.
Unforgettable characters in tragic situations.
Terrible! Extremely poorly written.
