My Reviews
While reading this book, I thought the only reason I was trudging through it was because our book club would be discussing it. But, looking back on it, I find I have fond recollections, like that Michael Perry guy and his friends are people I'm glad I got to know a little bit. Hilarious in parts, dry in others, on balance a decent, fun read.
I recommended this book for our club because a friend with a book blog described it as a perfect book to hole up with in a remote cottage. After reading it, we agreed with that description. Kate Morton creates an enchanting and captivating world, with likable characters (and some clearly not likable ones, as well). The cross-generational timelines were well depicted -- not confusing at all. It wasn't the page-turning mystery some reviews have billed it as, but there is certainly some wonder in it.
