My Reviews
I loved this book it gets going from the first page and does not let up. Our book club loved it.
This is a funny quick little book. It is aimed more toward the male audience but we found it very funny. I kept asking my husband about things the author would say and we would both laugh. The author has a way with words.
This was the very first book I picked for our new book club and I was disappointed. It was not the best book written by this author. But the group was half & half. The women who had never read the author said she was laugh out loud funny and that they loved the book. However the women who had already read something by the auther were disappointed but said it was still funny. If you are looking to pick this author pick her book "Apocalipstick" or "Spin Cycle" they are laugh out loud funny. A couple of the best Brit-Chick-Lit books I have read.
At the time when my club read this I could really relate to the story it mirrored my own life. So there is a very special place in my heart for this story. This is now one of my favorite books of all time. It is just so well written, you can picture the ocean and the beautiful beaches. I thought this was such a sweet book that I gave copies of it for christmas gifts last year. It is a great read for all ages.
This is book #16 in the Lucus Davenport Series. We were able to jump right in even though we didn't start at book #1. I thought it was scary and really graphic. But thought the fact that it takes place in Minnesota where my book club is located was pretty cool. A friend of my in the book club who has read them all said it really is a great series and that this specific book was more dark then the rest.
The Women's Murder Club series is great. The women in the club are smart, cool and fun. They help each other not only in their jobs but in their personal lives.
It was not the light hearted story I was expecting. Her life takes some very serious ups and downs. But over all it was a good book.
I really liked this book of short stories. The 2nd story was the best!!
It was a very nice read, the story was sad but wonderful. James Patterson is a great writer.
I thought the story was slow moving and boring. Yes it was a love story but it was just kind of flat. I would recommend "A Bend In The Road" or "The Last Song" instead.
This was such a funny book I couldn't put it down. The way she tells these stories is just hilarious! And the stories about her family will have you cracking up. Don't miss this one!
This book could be cut down to 250 pgs from the books current 600! It is very slow going, but once the story starts moving it is grapfic, cold and scary. Plus there are way too many characters to keep track of. It was not what I expected.
The timeline and dates are all over the place making it hard to follow. There are a few cool facts but you only come across one every 30 pgs or so. Making it a long dry read. .
I love James Patterson, he never stops suprising me. This was a great story about life/love and what it all means. It's about telling the story of your life so people know the real you.
This was a pretty well written suspense thriller. I usually read more romance style, but thought I would give this a try and ended up liking it. I even recommended it to a friend in my book club. She reads all kinds of thrillers/true crime, she said she liked it. We are going to read the rest of the series.
My book club and I hosted the book "Not That Well Rounded", author Jerry Vest and his wife Kimberly. We were all very excited, this was our first author event. Jerry was very sweet in agreeing to come to our meeting to be quized by 10 very chatty women. The meeting was a fun and interesting event. Jerry and Kimberly answered all of our questions honestly in a anything go's style. We are thankful to them for taking the time to spend an evening with us to shine a light on the world of addiction.
As for the book, it was hard to read what the author has gone through. He lived a hard, rough, even scray at times wild life. This book is full of his crazy tails, that at times are so crazy they must be true. What's the saying "You can't make this stuff up". Well in Jerry's case that is so true. This book is a wild ride, lacking only in the fact that he did not cover more of his road to recovery and enlightenment. Here's hoping that will be covered in his second book.
I wish the author Jerry and his very sweet wife Kimberly best of luck in there sobriety!
This is a heartbreaking yet inspiring story. One for all the sailors/boaters out there.
I liked the twist and turns of the book, but the storyline was very dark. Some of it was hard to read.
These books are so funny you can't put them down!
I had a hard time getting in to the writing of the book, but wow once I did I couldn't put it down. I couldn't imagine the life "Ma" lived for the 7 years she was locked in "Room". How she stayed sane, I don't know. I guess once Jack came along he gave her a reason to push on.
I love Nicholas Sparks, and this story doesn't disappoint. It takes a few twists and turns you don't see coming. It also has some very likeable characters.
I really liked the back story on Miles. I thought at first Tate wasn't written all that well but she grew on me. I liked that the book had some spicy scenes and some depth. I really enjoyed the book and our club is looking forward to the movie.
I loved this story, Nicholas Sparks writes a fantastic novel...again!
I think the story line was okay. Some of the wording and slang didn't fit how the main character was portrayed a smart professional mother and wife.
