A good read and a page turner which puts the reader in the center of the social struggles between blacks and whites in the 1960's.

this novel is affectionally referred to by fans "as where it all began" as it establishes the wonderful characters who reappear in future novels. The book is filled with drama, humor and mystery as it follows the experiences of Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter. It was a real page turner for me.
this is a book that makes you think as there are many philosophical instances that occur between the characters.
You enter the world of ballet competitions among young adults set in a background of mystery, history and romance.
I enjoyed this book centered around a magical black dress. Each woman that wore it had a vision into her future destiny, sometimes good and sometimes frightening but making for an intriguing story. Our group had the option of coming to our book club dressed in a little black dress which added to the discussion fun.
An insightful look at the 2nd world war which America was on the verge of entering. Frankie Bard. the reporter overseas gives us the frightening accounting of what is happening in Europe while back in America we experience the lives here through Iris the Postmistress and Harry the mechanic who is sure the war is coming to America's shores.

Bel Canto is a story of the survivial of a house full of prestigous people from all over the world who are suddenly taken over as hostages by a group of rag-tag terrorists. How they manage to survive with their language barriers and other conditions makes for a dramatic, insightful story.
Our book club enjoyed this book about 39 year old Alice who got bonked on her head in the health club and woke up thinking she was still 29. She was totally confused to learn that she had 3 children and her marriage was headed for divorce and someone named Gina who everyone told her was her best friend, had died.

I found a new appreciation of music over the decades thru the life of Frankie Presto and those "the Music narrator" had him interact with like Tony Bennet, Elvis Presley, and many others. It was a wonderful read.
