My Reviews
I didn't like this book. Some members of our club thought it was absolutely spellbinding. I thought the characters were too thinly drawn and even the setting was not fully developed.
I thought this was an excellent book and very well written. In addition to the main story, there is a sub-plot about the boy's grandmother and grandfather. The grandfather cannot speak, and has left the grandmother but comes back during the course of the nove.
It gives a very real perspective on how children deal with death.
I thought this book had some very good insights into the mind of a bullied school student who turns his rage on his classmates. It is very interesting to read about the relationship he has with his parents. Picoult does a good job of paralleling the lives of two students who were once best friends.
