My Reviews
Thoroughly enjoyed this fun fast paced story, couldn't wait to read part two.
While the subject matter is disturbing, it was a very insightful book. Something unlike anything else I've read.
This was a very slow book, about 300 pages too long. I forced myself to finish it because someone mentioned it would get better. It wasn't until the final 50 or so pages that it improved.
Very beautiful coming of age story. You feel for the young girl as she goes through the things life threw at her. I felt it was very similar to The Secret Life of Bees.
First classic I've read in a long time, and it was much better than I expected. You see a very unique look at life on a prairie and how different families had to overcome various obstacles and the outcome it had on their lives.
Extremely slow and depressing. You have the perspective of about a dozen people looking at their lives as well as the life of Olive Kitteridge - an older woman and the experiences she faces. Perhaps if I'd have read this later in life I'd be more appreciative.
Thought this book was a bit slow, and boring. There were some good parts - like the end (although the final scene wasn't great). It would be a conversation piece, but as a great book read - I wouldn't recommend. Unless you were REALLY into dogs.
