My Reviews
The first quarter was a little slow for me, but once the story got going, I was hooked!
Although there were not many concepts that were new to me, there were several approaches that may not have been obvious to me before. I think most readers could take away at least a couple things to try in their own lives, making this a worth-while book to read.
The perspective of 5-year old Jack is brilliant! His love for his mother and hers for him makes a horrible situation somehow bearable and at times beautiful.
I started reading this book, just as filler between book club reads, and the first half was decent. Nothing Earth-shattering. Then it took off, grabbed me, moved me. Interesting twists thrown in there too. Then the tears came...and I'm not usually a crier. It may not lend itself well to being a bookclub-type of book, but then again, I'm new to the whole bookclub thing myself.
An incredible story of WWII experiences that left me with a tremendous respect for so many. It is demonstrated time and time again that hope and dignity are just as essential to life as food and water. This book really opened my eyes.
I enjoyed this book, with several thought-provoking bits of wisdom and wonderful humor. Great characters!
It was a great book, but a bit depressing for my taste.
Kept my interest throughout. Vivid story-telling.
Grab your tissues, because you'll need them. This is such a quick, easy read, with well-developed characters and a very natural writing style. Good insight into the lives of teens with a terminal illness. This book gave me something to think about, and of course it made me cry!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Wild. I didn\\\'t think I\\\'d really enjoy the book, but it really pulled me in. It\\\'s a quick read and very inspiring. Makes me want to revisit my plans to hike the AT!
Interesting perspective during WW2. Well-written and good character development. Many twists and turns throughout the book.
