My Reviews
A great read! An amazing story of will, determination, and triumph! So many books have focused on Hitler and Germany during WWII. It was riveting to read about Japan and the POW camps. I'm in my late 30's and am ashamed to say I never knew about the Japanese POW camps and the horrifying conditions. I feel like I really learned something from this well written, remarkably researched book. Louis is a true hero!
I thought this book was OK. Certainly not as good as I expected it to be. It started out well enough, but it went downhill from there. Good premise, but I thought it did not flow well and was unrealistic at times.
Our whole book club loved this book. It was a quick, easy read, but was touching and heart-warming at the same time. Lovely book!
I really liked this book. We had read a very heavy novel for book club before this one. So this was a nice change. It's light and quick, funny, and sad at times. It was a good read and will give us plenty to talk about at book club.
