My Reviews
Besides being a love story, the reader learns something about American history.
Very good book for book club discussions. Lots to talk about.
Lots of detail about the battles drug the story on and on. If you are a Civil War history book, you may find this book interesting.
A reader might only find this book interesting if he is from the vicinity of the wicked city or at least familiar with it's legendary stories; if he had an interest in crime in the 1940-50s. The book is graphic. A good mixture of factual fiction or fictional facts. The author has nicely woven in a story of human interest.
I may be the only person in my book club who did not like the book. I found it to be tedious reading. It was slow. I kept thinking that if I could make it through the first part that the story would improve but that didn't happen for me.
I'm glad a friend introduced my book club to this book. I've not met with this situation in life, but appreciated learning of another's experience. The book leads to a better understanding of one of life's possibilities as we move through our lives.
