My Reviews
A lovely story about loyalties; toward one's family, country, spouse. I had a very hard time relating to the author. Not only the generational gap, but also the cultural. The story itself was not difficult to read, but difficult to invest in.
Fearful that this particular book may be a bit too dark (considering the perspective) the writer came through with a thought provoking novel. I encourage anyone to read this with a bookclub because you will certainly want to talk about it once finished.
A fun and romantic journey during a difficult period of US history. Well written and an addictive read.
Get out a pen and paper before you start this read. Characters develope and introduce in and out of the chapters very rapidly. While the storyline is intersting and the writer has found a unique way of presenting, the book itself is difficult and demands the full attention of the reader.
A fun and addictive read, Sister takes you on the chase as the story unfolds in the current and first person. A thrill to the end, you will enjoy guessing "who did it".
This book is partially based on true events. The point which crosses from fact into fiction is tangible and obvious. The beginning is well written and vivid, however, the last 1/3 of the text, written with full artistic liberty, is tedious at best. My Abandonment is very similar to Glass Castles, including mental illness, homelessness and a delusional sense of superiority. Not recommended for a book group, maybe for a long flight to Australia.
