Did not love this book

Much of this book was unrealistic. Why should it be considered a great love story when he could have gone back to Burma at any time to find her and why did he marry when he could have gone back? Also, is it ever right to leave your family without even an explanation to your children? I feel this overrides the whole story in the book.

Weak characters

Couldn't relate to any characters. All except Ethan self centered. Did not care what happened to them by end of story. Started out great but didn't end well

Life After Life: A Novel by Kate Atkinson

Interesting, Confusing, Insightful
confusing and pointless

I rarely give a negative review but this book was simply a journey in redundancy and confusion I really tried to like it but in the end the goal became just finishing it. No story plot and no real ending Don't waste your time

Boring

I really wanted to like this book. The characters were weak and there was very little story line. I kept waiting for something to happen but it never did. .Overall it was just a very boring book

Biased

The book was well written, informative and initially I thought I would really like it. As time went on I began feeling that the author was trying to make every prisoner appear to be the innocent victim and didn't deserve punishment due to his upbringing or environmental circumstances. He made many excuses for their crimes and the reasons they were on death row, including one of a boy burning down a house and killing its inhabitants. I understand there are inequities in the judicial system but also feel that crimes such as murder must be punished or mayhem will ensue. I believe that we all should take responsibility for our actions but the author just makes excuses. 't the author discussed one prisoner who was "guilty in his eyes" I would have found the book more relevant to the problem. I am an avid reader and didn't even finish the book and this is only the second time in my life I have done this.

This was a great story. Diane Chamberlain has done it again touching on very current topics and getting right to the core of human emotions and behaviors. The characters are deep and believable. Highly recommend this book.
