My Reviews
We rated this book between a 6 and 7.
The book was a little brazier and disappointing. The author does a good job at describing the culture but it was more of a ghost story than a love story to me.
Annie Dillard did a fantastic job describing her childhood and her inspiration for wanting to become a writer through this book. I really appreciated the innocence and the use of descriptions that she used to draw the reader in. I felt that I really related to a lot of her childhood experiences and found myself thinking back to my own childhood experiences.
Jodi Picoult does a good job at making you think. The subject of the book was hard to read about but it also made you think.
The story line is thought provoking and creepy. It led to a really good discussion with a lot of unique view points.
The characters in the real life story are amazing. The book is very well written. The storyline and culture of Savannah is very enjoyable to read about. I would love to meet these people.
The group had mix feelings about the book. Overall, it was just okay.
I would recommend using Spark Notes to help you get through this book.
