My Reviews
I really enjoyed finding out how people in the past viewed Down's Syndrome compared with today.
I really disliked this book from the first chapter - couldn't like the main character Annie at all since she was cheating on her husband. Later events made me understand why, up to a point, but not enough to ever make me sympathize with Annie. And what else could happen to her and her family? Plus the writing, and punctuation, just didn't seem to make the story flow. Was there a semi colon anywhere in the whole book? Or ellipses? (Sorry, that's just the English minor coming out!) The whole story could have been at least cut in third and been enough. Plus, there's going to be TWO more books, not just a sequel??? Annie and Andrew, get over yourselves!
I really enjoyed this book. I especially liked that the terrorists were portrayed as regular people, just like their captives. Gen was an especially interesting character. I'm not sure if I liked the ending yet or not; it seemed abrupt and unexpected, but maybe that's how life would be in the "real" world after an event like that. I was impressed that, even though the author gave clues that it would turn out badly for the terrorist, I was still hoping somehow that everyone would live happily ever after.
How can I even review this book? One of my all time favorites. And now that I've read this one, I've got to read all of Austen's again. Got to say, I like Lizzie a lot better than Fanny Price.
Loved this book! A little slow to begin, but all the detail made the rest of the book come together beautifully.
Well written. Loved the character and place descriptions. It's just the author I can't quite figure out. Would like to know if, after all of her searching, what she found is really what she was looking for.
