My Reviews
The best book I have read this year. I learned a great deal about the history of South Africa and its people. I couldn't put it down.
I could not put this down. A true story of one pow in the Pacific Theater of WWII. This man's will controlled his destiny. He overcame obstacles that were unbelieveable.
How could anyone not love this book. I laughed out loud. I recommended it to my friend who was raised in the south and she recommended it to her sister. Both found it hilareous and loved it.
Everyone should read this book twice. Once in high school and at least once as an adult. No wonder Harper Lee only wrote one book, its unbeatable.
Wow! Not only did I love this book I loved the entire trilogy by Stieg Larsson. I read all three. Super thrillers!
I read this book in book club and thought, "How can a book about the plaque in England be something I would like to read?" Well, let me tell you it is fantastic! I picked it up and could not put it down. If you are looking for a tale of lords and ladies, its not here. It is about a small rural town during the middle ages, steeped in superstition, religion, and THE PLAGUE.
loved it! loved it! loved it!
I read this book over a year ago and thinking of it still makes me sad, sad, sad and angry. I want to cry. What the French did to the Jewish children, or rather didn't do during the German occupation during WWII is abominable. Every bit has horrible or worse than the holacost. If you are sensitive, Think twice about this book.
i love all of phillipa gregory's books. One of my favorite authors.
When I finished this book, I hugged it to my chest and smiled to savor it. I simply loved the book and its characters. I would love to know the Major and his lady love. His son, however, I could strangle. I can't wait for Helen Simonson's next novel.
Interesting man/wife characters who love one another but are thrown into a very sad situation.
I loved this book of a young girl growing up in Arizona, New Mexico, and traveling by wagon train and train from there to Texas in America post Civil War. She grows into a strong and special woman as our American frontier develops. The strength to face birth, death, Indian raids and the need to be resilient forms her life and that of her family.
I loved this book. Not much is written about women in this time period. Particularly young women and what they dealt with at the time. Sarah is a survivor, in her daily life and love life. And this is truly how the west was won.
