My Reviews
Everyone in our book club enjoyed this book. Although it is admittedly "chick lit" it was also funny and engaging. We selected it for our August meeting, and I think that it was a perfect summer read.
This was a well-written and charming memoir. Most everyone in our club enjoyed this book, and it sparked interesting discussion. However, we all agreed that it was slow and had a tendency to drag.
I loved this booked, and found myself analyzing the ending and other scenes long after I had finished reading. It did take a little while to get up to speed since it jumps around - you have to get through a good bit of it to be able to follow the time-traveling. It may help to re-read the first 50-100 pages as one reviewer mentioned. About half of our book club loved this book, the other half didn't care for it (I think they found it difficult to follow/understand).

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and thought it was uplifting although others in our club disagreed. The characters were interesting and very likable, and I liked the way the story developed although some found it to be too predictable.
I guess I kept waiting for the stories to come together but they never did. Like another reader, I found a lot of the architectural detail to be drawn-out and boring. It was a nice history lesson, and well-written from a literary perspective. Other than that, I found it rather boring.
The story was solid and it kept my interest throughout the book, but I didn't feel like I truly understood or cared about any of the characters.
If James Frey hadn't claimed this to be a true account, what you would have is an excellent novel. I loved this book, I couldn't put it down. It was shocking, tragic, and inspirational. An insightful look into addiction, I recommend this book as long as you can read with an open mind.
I was hesitant to read another memoir, but this was excellent.
The book was cute, but not everyone in our club liked it. I enjoyed it, but thought the ending was rushed and kind of a let down after all the build up.
I loved this book, the story was fascinating and spanned a lifetime. The writing was rich with detail, and you felt like you really were there and knew the people. I learned something new in reading this book, and that I always appreciate.
Fine, an easy read though slow and preachy. There were some good lessons that readers can take with them if they choose.
The writing itself was pretty mediocre, definitely at a pre-teen reading level, but the story was interesting. It was a fun, very quick read, but take it for what it is.
