My Reviews
I highly recommend this book. It's told through the eyes of Death as the narrator. The writing is beautiful, almost poetic. As you read, take note of Death's descriptions of the colors of the sky. The story takes place in WWII Germany and follows the life of a young girl, her losses and triumphs.
We felt that some of the premises were a bit weak. They were convenient for the writer but confusing for the reader. There some good plot twists which kept it interesting.
It's hard to believe that this is a young adult book. The story line is very dramamtic and there is quite a bit of violence. However, the plot is well thought out, rich in detail, and creatively futuristic. Katniss's thought processes and problem solving skills would appeal to young adults.
This is the second book in The Hunger Games series. It was as engaging as the first, with many twists and turns. The author raises questions, leads you down many different paths and "what if's". The ending leaves you salivating for the next book "Mockingjay".
Very easy read! We wanted something light after the holidays. This book takes a turn you don't expect and works it nicely.
It's historical fiction and deals with Ernest Hemingway and his first wife, Hadley, when they lived in Paris in the 20's. They rubbed shoulders with famous and soon to be famous people. I thought the story was well written and enlightening.
