I read this book years ago and found it rather foreboding but I have changed my mind. It is about two people who are alike even if their social classes are different. They recognize their sameness and enjoy each others company. They overcome extreme problems and end up with each other. During the story the author explores the hardships of the different classes women have in georgian England. It is wonderfully written and every time I have read it, I have come away with a different view point of the book.
