My Reviews

A Soft Place to Land: A Novel by Susan Rebecca White

Boring, Slow, Unconvincing
Keep looking....

I did not enjoy this selection. I found the main character whiny and shallow. The writing did not compel me or propel me forward. I never felt the sympathy that should come for someone who suffers loss at a young age.

A must-read for any fan of historical fiction.

This fictional account of one German woman's fight for survival during WWII and her daughter's search for answers was brilliant and brutal. It was a fascinating observation of the human spirit during on of the world's darkest periods of history.

Enjoyable summer read.

I enjoyed this book very much. It took the first 30 pages to know who was who. The letter-writing format was slow at first but then it revealed so much about the characters.
