My Reviews
The Florida history was interesting. The vocabulary used was stimulating. The content of the story was depressing despite a hopeful ending. I am sorry I spent the time reading it.
Intriguing characters and persuasive story line. I kept coming back to find out what happens next. This book generated the most conversation from our group despite varied ratings of the book.
Rich characters with a thoughtful storyline using a true unusual event as the backdrop.
Story about the life of someone with aspergers. The trials and tribulations through a lifetime of challenges. Our club learned a lot about this disease and it provides insight into people lives with aspergers.
This book lends a perspective of a teenage boy growing up. It is beautifully written.
I read this novel as a high school student and liked it then but now 40 years later I loved it! The meaning behind the events and subtle humor held me captive to the story. I recommend this book to young and not so young.
I found this book boring. I could not wait for it to be over. It seemed to drag on and on. There was nothing that seemed interesting or insightful. Lots of redundancy with loose ends. The main character so was full of himself and supporting characters were weakly constructed.Do not waste your time.
A sincere human account about living after being part of a tragic death. The author explores the pain and feelings of guilt that filled his mind. He talks about how his life was shaped by this event.
I could not put it down. There were twists and unexpected turns throughout the book. The information about the Olympic training and bike racing on the velodrome track was interesting The characters were well developed, the choices made by the characters make for good discussion. I recommend this book.
