My Reviews
Great read. So many of the Katrina books focus on the poverty of the Lower Ninth Ward but Nine Lives gives the reader a view of how different neighborhoods and people of different socio-economic levels faced such a great disaster. Yes, it was confusing with so many characters but that also made the Nine Lives a stronger story.
Fiction based on the real life story of Italian immigrants from Scilla, Italy to New York city in the early 1900s. A dramatic look at how hard it was for immigrant families to "make it" in their new country. Giovanna is an incredible heroine. The story follows several generations and tells an interesting story. I highly recommned.
