My Reviews
We had a good discussion about this book. Most members found it an interesting and easy read, even if they didn't agree with all of the ideas in the book and how the facts were selected and presented. This also gave us a lot to talk about! It is a very "user friendly" non-fiction book club pick.
I was on the edge of my seat for the whole ride!
Lots of great discussion can come out of this book!
The book comes full circle in a very interesting way, but it is helpful to approach it as a series of interconnected short stories rather than a true novel.
This book is entirely about photography, but, other than the one on the cover, it contains no photographs. If you are going to use it for a book club meeting I would suggest finding the pictures online and printing them out so that people can look at them and discuss them. With the photographs in hand, we had a decent discussion, but it was a lot of work to find them. It also had very little to do with Alice in Wonderland.
This book was not well written, and at times just plain bizarre.
It was a pleasant and easy read, but there was very little in it for an adult book club to discuss.
There was a lot to discuss in this book, but I agree with other reviewers in that at times it was a little too scientific and technical. I can't believe that the publisher wanted to remove the information about Henrietta's family, as I felt that was the most interesting and moving part.
Everyone loved this pick, and it yielded some great discussion.
A fun change of pace for book club. Everyone enjoyed it.
We chose this book for a "fun" christmas read, but much of it really wasn't very funny (although it did have it's moments) and some of it was really bordering on offensive (and I'm not really easily offended)
A quick read, but there was plenty to discuss.
