The Confession by John Grisham

The Confession

The book grabs your attention from the start, drawing you into the character's lives. It's like a "Who dun it?" in reverse. The "Who" is evident in the first chapter, but it takes the next few days to try and persuade the key characters as to whether or not he's telling the truth. More importantly, can this "Confession" save another man's life? Grisham tells a compelling story, and gets the language of the South just right.

All Over But the Shouting

Those of us raised in the rural South will probably enjoy the book more than others. Not all of us experienced the tough beginnings that Bragg describes, but we will recognize and appreciate the love of family, the attachement to place, and the rhythm of the language.
