The Family Tree: A Novel by Carole Cadwalladr

Confusing, Insightful, Informative
Provides many topics for discussion

The structure of the book is irritating to begin with, but after a while the story carries the action forward.
The author considers that the movement back and forth in time is similar to the way we all learn about family stories, scandals, etc.

Interesting
A big disappointment - mostly a "play-by-play" account of her sexual exploits with men who answered her ad.

The book has some good moments, when the author is not dwelling on her sexual needs. One chapter relating her experience teaching in San Quentin was interesting and moving. But mostly, we are asked to be interested in a women who hates her body, and is consumed by her own disappointment with her relationships.
