My Reviews
A story of love and struggle blended with the reality of Italian immigration to America. A family saga.
This was only the second meeting of our club and we had plenty to talk about. The book provoked all sorts of emotion in everyone and provided for an active discussion. Loved it!
Quick read. The book provoked more discussion than I expected. Good story of overcoming life obstacles. Clear veiw of good and evil in a flawed social system. All but one in our small club enjoyed the book.
We all enjoyed this quick read. Everyone laughed reading it. It also made you reflect on the commercialism/cost of the season. It promoted discussions about our own Christmas feelings and experiences.
The group enjoyed the book overall. Some found it a slow start with difficulty keeping track of characters. However, overall we had lively discussion around the life decisions of both main characters. We would recommend it to clubs. Once it got going it was hard to put down.
The book was a quick, believable read. As would be expected, it prompted "Heaven" discussions and provided wonderful hope to its Christian reader. We liked the way the story was told, weaved through a families daily life/ trials. It was enjoyed by all.
the club had mixed reviews. The story was good and we had a lively discussion. Most felt the book was simply longer than it needed to be.
A very good. Held your interesting. Some twists and turns, together with real life, thought provoking events. Our book club enjoyed it and had plenty of discussion material.
Quick easy read. Nothing heavy or thought provoking.
The majority of the club enjoyed this easy summer read. The others found it slow and uninteresting.
Very well written. Difficult story - worth the read.
