Loved it!!
Thread of Sky was a good book. I did however feel that the characters all got somewhat equal emphasis. Would have loved to have seen the grandmother more fully developed. What an amazing story about the death and suffering of the Chinese people.
I started reading the Help a few months ago. The movie came out and I decided to go ahead and see it. It was great. I came back and finished the book. The book is even better than the movie.
My frist book by Coben. I like the way he writes. His stories are complex and hold my interest. I will definitely put him on my favorite author list.
Beautiful use of words. The book painted a picture of life, the countryside, the culture, the prejudices, family relations. I found it a wonderful distraction that had many insightful monents on life and relationships.
Terry Kay definitely has the gift of "words". Ireland and all the magic and mystery come to life. The journey of the grandson to carry his grandfather's ashes to Ireland has love, drama, mystery and magic. You fall in love with Ireland and the pictures Terry Kay paints of the land and the people. A beautiful story of old love and new love intertwined. Makes you want to pack your bag and go have a drink at a pub in Irleland or walk along the rocky coast and smell the air. Love the line from the book ...."When the Irish die, the world loses a song, and all that's left is the silence only a deaf man has ever heard."
Our book club won this book as the Book Movement give away book. It was a good read. I read it in one day and felt entertained. I'd read other books by this author.
This is a book of short stories that you will not put down. I always tell people when I recommend this book that it was "funny" and "wise". Kevin has a way of taking life and drawing the humor and wisdom from people's everyday experiences. Keep writing Kevin. He was at our book club today and was a dear. He read several selections from the book. His humor will make you laugh out loud.
This was a good book for a book club discussion. What I enjoyed most about the book was the real life Orphan Train information. I had never know about this part of our history. I viewed the website of the descendants of Orphan Train children. Very interesting and inspiring.
One of the "cozy mysteries"!! A little village you'd like to live in and enjoy early morning walk(ha). Loved the characters. My first of the series. I'll definitely read more.
