My Reviews
Not everyone in the reading group liked this book. Some did not like the way it was written--each chapter jumping between the past and the present. Both stories could have stood on their own. But I enjoyed the two different aspects of the story. A matter of preference. I enjoyed the setting in Ft. Jefferson. Each person submitted a couple of discussion questions before we met. It made for a lively and interesting discussion! We plan to use the same format again.
A fun read that was enjoyed by all ages in my book club!
I'd highly recommend Sharon Pywell's novel for book clubs. It generated a lot of thoughtful conversation concerning the issues of the Vietnam War, and the siblings portrayed in the book. There is much to dig into with this well crafted novel. We were honored to have Sharon attend our book discussion!
Enjoyable novel. The 5th Faye Longchamp mystery. Loved the setting, New Orleans. Can't wait to see where Mary Anna Evan's takes Faye next!
The characters come alive through letters! I enjoyed the format. Literature touched the lives of ordinary people during extraordinary times.
