My Reviews
Needed this book after a string of heavy books.
Brought a perspective to India and apodption that I had not thought of before I read this book
The images of this book and the power of survival will stay with me forever.
I usually don't read these types of books but I was surprised that I enjoyed it.
I had no idea what this book was about and when it came to the punchline I was completely shocked.
I was a complete sucker and never guessed the ending of this book. Still can't believe it.
I can't believe I haven't read this book previously. It was difficult but thought provoking. Definitely will re-read this book.
Enjoyed this book but not as much as The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. But still a page turner to the very end.
Again another book that I couldn't believe I hadn't read before. This was a life changing inspirational read for me personally reminding me of my dreams and passions in life.
Although I enjoyed the historical knowledge I gained from the book, I'm not sure this would be a good thought provocking, conversational stimulating read for a book club.
I enjoyed learning about the early days of Ernest Hemingway. I found it difficult at times to read knowing the outcome.
Have had a string of books about the value of girls in different cultures. A bit of a surprise ending for me that has left me with more questions.
A page turner & mystery to the very end but I'm sure it's book club material Can't wait to read the next one.
I found book 3 of the Hunger Games Trilogy a good ending to the Trilogy. For the first time in awhile I found closure and felt like there were no loose ends to a collection of books.
Although I didn't think this book was as good as Hunger Games, I enjoyed the continuation of the story line. Can't wait to read the final book Mockingay.
Every member of our book club thought this was one of our best selections. The characters were all well developed. The story line was difficult but beautifully written.
My college daughter gave me this book as a gift. She wanted to help me find my happiness again. She was so right. I was in a terrible rut and need something to pull me out of it. It definitely helped get me going again but do not recommend for book club discussions.
It took me a long time to actually pick up this book when I heard what it was about. It took me almost as long to get over the horrific concept of the book after I started reading it. However, I couldn't put it down, I didn't know it was a Trilogy until the very end of the book and couldn't wait a day before reading the next book.
I need this book after reading a string of deep historical biographies. Fairly predictable but not a waste of my time. Would not recommend for book club.
I had a very difficult time with the storyline. Also found it difficult to read Jack's dialogue.
I took a complete leap of faith in chosing this book & I was completelty pleased at how much I truly enjoyed this book. It didn't portray any of the people as 1 dimensional good or bad. The story was interesting & exciting. I couldn't put the book down.
This was an exciting insightful page turner. Loved this book.
My girlfriend recommended this book to me & I wasn't let down. From the very first page I was hooked.
I found the book to be slow & uninteresting. Wasn't even interested in the ending. Didn't do anything for me. Wish I would have had that time back.
I read the first 30 pages 3 times before actually finishing the book but very glad I did. I learned a lot about the times and about the Japanese culture. Also enjoyed the relationship developments in the book.
An inspiring look into the power of the human soul.
The Help shows us the different sides of the South during a time of profound and well needed change in America......with a sense of humor.
Read this book twice and was shocked both times at how emotional I got throughout the book.
But I will say I am 200 pages into book two. Can't wait to find out what happens to the main characters. So while the writing might not be up to snuff the story line has me completely hooked.
Started off a little slow but who doesn't love a truly romantic book about a man who deeply loves a woman.
But the story is inspirational.
Quick easy read with a twist ending. Interesting topic.
