My Reviews
The plot moves quickly! I was a bit sad for the book to end, but loved the images of the palm trees preening themselves and the vultures wobbling on the updrafts. Very apt descriptions of scenery throughout, giving one a real sense of place.
I loved the interpersonal dynamics. The tension between friends and couples was well-written. The author thoughtfully gentle on each human's failings, allowing each to be themselves with slight criticism but with the reality that we're human and we're all a pain in the you-know-what sometimes.
Tina Fey is brilliant! I think I have a girl crush. Her insights on marriage, friendship, family, children, and work were candid and refreshing. She takes all in stride and makes us laugh at our obsession with our natural quirks and at the self-imposed torture we subject ourselves to when making decisions.
