My Reviews
It captured my attention quickly. May be graphic at first, but slowly unveils an excellent story that is not easily forgotten.
Gernally, it was a good story. As I understand from others, the movie was better than the book...which is unusual as most people prefer the book to the movie. The book lacked "drama," but the story was intersting and informative.
I have read the trilogy and found that all three books were terrific, and I would recommend them to all.
Not my favorite of all time, but it held my interest enough. It was an easy read.
This was an easy read. Enjoyed it very much. The storyline gave many interesting topics to discuss with our group.
I liked, not loved, the book. Other members of our book club loved the book, however. I felt it was slightly depressing and hard to get into. I did find the second half fairly interesting and became anxious to continue to the end.
Good story. Written well. Clean and without nastiness or prejudice. Recommend.
Interesting enough read. I could not rate this "5" stars, however, as I found myself wanting very much to connect with her, but I could not. It was somewhat frustrating. I sensed she was trying to "toot her own horn" just a little. She should have better described the depths of her feelings and struggles rather than skimming the surface of her feelings during difficult times in her life. She also seemed to be interested in "self-promotion." Overall, it was a good story, however, and I loved her pursuit of her family abroad.
Ok story. Glad to have read it. The discussion by our group, however, was excellent. There were many areas of this book that brought about interesting viewpoints by other readers.
I enjoyed our lively discussion about the book more than the book itself. However, I did find the book interesting. I would really like to hear the prespective of a higher-level person leaving the organization, too. Glad to have read this thought-provoking story.
Interesting story. Glad to have read it. Would recommend as a quick and easy read that keeps your attention. Thought-provoking.
Not too difficult of a read. Some group members stated it was a little confusing early on. Overall, an enjoyable read and good discussion.
Our book club enjoyed the book for the most part. I personally found it a little far-fetched, but it made for interesting conversation.
This book was generally well-received with no negative comments by our group. Easy, quick read and a great book to discuss.
Story line was difficult to follow at times. Many undeveloped characters, jumping timelines.
Well-written, interesting story. Our club liked the book, and we did have a lively discussion, however, we all agreed that we felt the book was a bit boring. We agreed that the main character was well-developed, but the story should have evolved and ended differently.
Interesting read, somewhat slow at times. Our book club had a lively discussion, however. We had all hoped for better character development, but overall, it was an easy read.
Not what I was expecting, but a good read, nonetheless. Great book club discussion.
The book was written well, although I was not expecting the book to be an advertisement for the author's other writings. She has led an interesting life, but the book was not what I expected.
Seemed a bit predictive, but still a page-turner. Easy read and interesting. The ending was a surprise!
Our group enjoyed the storyline and seemed to be accepting of the writer's style.
The print in this book was so light that it was barely legible. All those who chose to read the print version of the book rather than with an eBook were disappointed. The story was interesting, although it was a bit gloomy. Good discussion, though!
This book was recommended by a worker at Barnes and Noble. It was written so well with unexpected twists and turns. I highly recommend!
I like Kristin Hannah and read most of her books. I am very disappointed in this book, though. There were many similarities to a book I had previously read also. Most disappointing was the doom and gloom from the first pages that continued to the last page. No hope.
Just stop with these types of books. Just stop.
I may be a bit biased in my positive opinion about the book as I am a huge fan of McConaughey. His book has an appropriate mix of life positives and life negatives that resonate with the average reader. He seems to appreciate all that he has achieved, though he has not forgotten who and what helped him. I wish him and his family health and happiness always.
Though it was a bit slow at first, it was a fantastic read. Wonderful characters and excellent thought-provoking writing.
I enjoyed the book as did many of our book club members. I would have liked a bit more character development, but I wouldn't say it was inadequate; it was simply my personal preference to know even more about the characters. It was a great book for discussion.
