My Reviews
I've run across so many allusions to Hemingways' description of running the bulls in Pamplona that I was glad to finally ready the source. The book provided insight into the 1920s.
Rachman has incredible insight into people at all stages in their life journey. His character sketches are deep and often surprising, and he interweaves them in a way that is ultimately very satisfying.
This book was very light, and some of the details were hard to swallow. However, our book club had an interesting and enjoyable discussion about what skipping Christmas would mean to different people in the group.
Shaara does a wonderful job of portraying the possible thoughts and emotions of a group of officers at the Battle of Gettysburg. They come alive as fine and complex people.
this book took me into the lives of Dominicans, with characters I loved.
This book generated a good discussion of the issues surrounding the high school years and the ways parents respond.
