My Reviews
As a nurse this was a book that reminded me why I do what I do! With that being said I can't imagine how a person who is unfamilar with the medical world would be able to read the book without being frustrated. I loved the book but it was extremely technical. And even I found myself looking up a few medical terms. I must say though, I am awe struck at a doctors ability to write a book with such beautiful language. In my experience, Doctors do not have a strong need to elaborate with may beautiful english words and especially adjectives. They are short and to the point. The less written the better! Dr. Verghese has an unsual talent for writing with grace and beauty!
I found this book extremely frustrating. I have not read too many books that jump around as this one did. This author cheats her readers by telling an event that happens but drops you in the middle of it and never speaks of it again. No beginning, middle or ending! You've heard of Sentence fragments well this book was all about story fragments!
